Summary:

When nineteen-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a beast-like creature arrives to demand retribution for it. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she only knows about from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not an animal, but Tamlin-one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled their world.

As she dwells on his estate, her feelings for Tamlin transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie and warning she's been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But an ancient, wicked shadow over the faerie lands is growing, and Feyre must find a way to stop it . . . or doom Tamlin--and his world--forever.

Review:

Wow. Just Wow. Sarah J. Maas is a fantastic writer, not only for this series, but also for the Throne of Glass Series

So lets start with book one- from the start of the book I was quite quickly hooked. I was immediately interested in the world created for this series and the main character, Feyre.

Sarah J Maas certainly has a way with words, she provides strong detail in both the characters and the environment.

Feyre is a strong independent character- having had to look after her family for many years. She has a strong voice/personality and has strong feelings for her family, willing to give up her life to protect them.

Lucien was probably my favourite character in the story. Though each character is well developed with a strong voice and personality.

The world-building is intensive and detailed with the many various courts of faeries adding more originality to the story. The attention to detail is fantastic and captivating. I love the inclusion of world maps to help picture everything. There is a great amount of imagination and creativity with the story.

The first book is filled with suspense, fantasy and retells Beauty and the Beast in a way like no other. If you haven't picked this book up yet you need too. I couldn't put the book down until I had finished it and straight away I moved onto book two.
